As a kid, I always wanted a lightsaber. I was never impressed with the toy versions to display in my ever expanding Star Wars collection so I decided to build my own from scratch. I only made this one for display purposes only and therefore, only constructed the hilt. At first I had no idea where to start. What would I make it out of? That's when I began researching the Internet and reading lots of prop replica forums for advice. I stumbled upon a great website. If you're looking for a way to make a cool lightsaber to hang on your Jedi belt or to display in your collection, this site has some really cool lightsaber styles to build. Here's the link.
Big Yellow Box - Lightsabers
They offer a full parts list as well as detailed directions with pictures. Everything in their tutorials can be picked up at your local hardware store. They are easy to build as long as you have the proper tools. I highly recommend purchasing a Dremel rotary tool. This is one reason I bought one myself. One of my best investments I've ever made.
Unfortunately I don't have pics of the "build" except 1 photo that was taken after i cut out the PVC template but I do have some great finished pictures below...
